Bamberg, 30.05.2022. <\/strong>Der 24. Mai 2022 wird ein schwarzer Tag in der Erinnerung der deutschen Paymentbranche bleiben. Der gleichzeitige Ausfall von Tausenden von Verifone H5000-Terminals in ganz Deutschland verursacht Umsatzausf\u00e4lle im station\u00e4ren Handel, der nach der Corona-Zwangspause in vielen Branchen gerade wieder auf die Beine kommt. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Der Ausfall trifft H\u00e4ndler wie Kunden unvorbereitet \u2013 wer hat heute noch gen\u00fcgend Bargeld im Portemonnaie, um den Wocheneinkauf zu bezahlen? Viele Kunden werden beim Anblick des Schildes \u201eKeine Kartenzahlung m\u00f6glich\u201c gleich eine T\u00fcr weiter bei der Konkurrenz einkaufen. Hinzu kommen Diskussionen mit Kunden, die ihre Loyalty-Karten nutzen wollen. Nicht zuletzt ist der Aufwand, Tausende von Terminals zu aktualisieren oder auszutauschen, sehr gro\u00df \u2013 und die zus\u00e4tzliche Bargeld-Logistik verursacht Kosten f\u00fcr mehr sichere Geldtransporte und mehr Wechselgeld.<\/p>\n

Die Ursache ist wahrscheinlich ein Problem mit abgelaufenen Zertifikaten, die auch den Einsatz eines per Fernwartung aufgespielten Updates verhindern. Somit wird nun jedes einzelne Terminal manuell aktualisiert oder ersetzt werden m\u00fcssen, um wieder Kontakt mit dem Netzwerk aufnehmen zu k\u00f6nnen. Der betroffene Terminaltyp Verifone H5000, seit 2011 im Markt, gilt als veraltet und sollte l\u00e4ngst ausgetauscht sein. Dennoch ist vermutlich noch eine sechsstellige Zahl von Ger\u00e4ten in Deutschland im Einsatz, bei knapp einer Million Terminals insgesamt. Was \u00f6kologisch durchaus sinnvoll ist \u2013 funktionierende Hardware l\u00e4nger zu nutzen \u2013 kann technologisch zum Risiko werden. Die Verl\u00e4ngerung der Zulassung des veralteten Softwarestands TA 7.1 durch die DK (Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft) bis Ende 2024 setzt auch nicht gerade Anreize, veraltete Ger\u00e4te z\u00fcgig auszutauschen.<\/p>\n

P2PE und Thin-Clients sch\u00fctzen vor Ausf\u00e4llen<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Der Einsatz von digitalen Zertifikaten ist nicht alternativlos. Auf Zertifikate, die immer ein Ablaufdatum haben, kann man verzichten, wenn der Payment Provider die Kommunikation z.B. mit Punkt-zu-Punkt-Verschl\u00fcsselung sch\u00fctzt. Daf\u00fcr gibt es den PCI P2PE-Standard (point-to-point-encryption), den wir bei Computop im Einsatz haben. P2PE ist viel sicherer als digitale Zertifikate, jedoch scheuen viele Payment Provider den Aufwand f\u00fcr P2PE. Das sollte der Handel in Zukunft neu bewerten.<\/p>\n

Ein weiterer Unterschied: Das Verifone H5000 ist ein sogenanntes Stand Alone oder Fat Terminal, das seine ganze Software im Ger\u00e4t hat. Deshalb braucht jetzt jedes dieser Terminals ein Update. Die Alternative dazu sind sogenannte Thin-Clients, die einen Gro\u00dfteil der Software \u00fcber die Anbindung an einen Terminalserver in der Cloud nutzen. F\u00fcr Software-Updates bei solchen Ger\u00e4ten reicht es in der Regel, die Cloud-Software zu aktualisieren.<\/p>\n

Worauf H\u00e4ndler bei Terminals achten (sollten)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Wer heute seine Terminals tauscht, macht sich auch Gedanken \u00fcber Omnichannel und die passenden Zahlarten. Es gilt, die Erwartungen der Kunden zu erf\u00fcllen. Kann das Terminal auch QR Code-Payments ausf\u00fchren? Sind Gutscheine und Bonuskarten integriert? Und wenn man sich damit schon besch\u00e4ftigt, stellt sich die Frage, ob der Kunde \u00fcberhaupt zur Kasse gehen muss. Auf der EuroCIS zeigt Computop neben aktuellen P2PE-Terminals zum Beispiel Smartphone-Apps, die es Verk\u00e4ufern erlauben, Zahlungen am Smartphone sicher entgegenzunehmen, damit der Kunde nicht an der Kasse anstehen muss. Zudem sind Self Checkout und In-App-Payments ein gro\u00dfes Thema, denn der Handel muss immer da sein, wo der Kunde ist.<\/p>\n

Es ist sicher nur ein Zufall, dass die gr\u00f6\u00dfte europ\u00e4ische Messe f\u00fcr Technologie im Einzelhandel gerade jetzt in Deutschland stattfindet. Das alles \u00fcberragende Messethema dieser Veranstaltung steht jedenfalls schon fest.<\/p>\n
